How to Apply
Write a brief essay about a book you read and describe how it transformed your life or modified the lens with which you view the world.
The subject matter is entirely open. Sample topics below are for guidance only. Please be original with your chosen topic containing personal significance. Here are a couple ideas to get you started:
How reading the story of TOMS shoes in Start Something That Matters motivated me to raise $20,000 for wetland habitat preservation.
How I gave up unhealthy habits and trained for a marathon after reading Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide.
Essays should be between 500 and 750 words and submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) to: email@example.com
A winner will be selected based on the following:
- Adherence to guidelines set forth above
- Quality of writing
- Effects of transformation from book
Open to high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students who will be enrolled full-time in an accredited not-for-profit 4-year university or graduate school during the 2017/2018 academic year
All majors and graduate fields accepted
The student selected as the winner will be required to submit the name and contact information of their chosen college/university for verification of registration and payment of the scholarship directly to the school.
All essays should be received by Wednesday May 31st, 2017. A winner will be chosen and notified via email by June 30th, 2017.
